AIRBSNLEWA UP (East) Circle meeting held with CGMT UP (East) on 7 October 2022 at Lucknow

updated on 08 October, 2022

Circle Secretary Com. Pallab Bose met Shri Rajiv Johri, CGM UP East on 7th October 2022 and discussed in detail about the backlog medical claims of all retired employees. In this regard Com. Bose expressed his displeasure on the way of working of BSNL UP (East). The meeting lasted one hour and 30 minutes.

Com. Pallab Bose reminded Hon’ble CGM that in each of his letters, he has been trying to bring to his notice that the list of sanctioning funds for pensioners in UP (E) circle is usually prepared after the provision of funds by the BSNL Corporate Office.

These List are prepared after the provision of funds by the BSNL Corporate office. Due to this belated action, by the time the lists are available, the medical fund is exhausted. Hence no benefit reaches the pensioners of UP (East). Further, with no homework being done by the Accounts Department, they are also unable to file requests for suitable funds for pensioners in due course. Com Pallab Bose told the Chief General Manager that the same strategy is still being replicated in PGMTD Lucknow and all other BAs. BSNL Corporate Office has instructed all circles to clear the backlog medical claims of retired employees with/without vouchers since 2017 up to 31st March 2022 and released sufficient funds on 30-08-2022 and inform them.

Com Bose told the Chief General Manager that more than 2000 (two thousand) pending medical bills of Lucknow pensioners have not been paid on time for five years, while most of our members are 70 years and above. Com Bose regretted that medical claims with/without voucher option for pensioners are pending since 2017. Com Bose again reminded him that on our request, CGMT has issued instructions to all BAs to send pending medical bills list, since last one year, but unfortunately not a single BA has replied to his letter.

Com Bose has urged the Chief General Manager to personally intervene in this matter so that all the long pending medical claims of all UP (East) BSNL pensioners up to March 2022 has to be paid.

Circle Secretary Com Pallab Bose has also requested the Chief General Manager to setup a vigilance inquiry against the concerned officer of the Accounts Wing of PGMTD, Lucknow as to why till now they have not provided list of 2000 (Two thousand) pending payment of Medical Bills to Circle Office Lw. despite several reminders. This lack of action completely disregards the instructions of the Chief General Manager and causes harassment of the pensioners.
